Your guide to retiring well, living fully, and planning smart
The Retirement
Lounge PodCast
Hi, I’m Nick Hutchings And Here's My Story

I am a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, a Chartered Financial Planner, an Accredited Society of Later Life Adviser (SOLLA) and an affiliated Financial Planner with the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and so I consider myself well placed to share my knowledge and experiences to help others.
Having worked in FS for over 25 years we are always encouraged to niche your expertise rather than try and be all things to all people.
As I have got older and more experienced in my profession, my personal interest in and focus on retirement planning has grown significantly and become clearer.
This genuine passion and curiosity specifically around the emotional aspects with retirement fascinates me. This in turn has helped me niche my expert knowledge to help people retire with purpose and in to a fulfilled life maximised with the means that they have available to them.
What inspired you to create The Retirement Lounge?
Retirement Planning to me feels more like a hobby as I gain so much fulfilment out of helping others retire successfully. I consider myself as a permanent student of Retirement Planning and therefore I read a lot of books and listen to a lot of podcasts to grow my knowledge so that you and my clients don’t need to.
This has also included the very niche aspect of helping families with Care Fees planning which I have delved deeply in to due to my own family experiences.
I am often complimented on my ability to simplify what can seem daunting and complex topics such as How much is enough? And what is the meaning of a pension?
These compliments along with being an avid podcast listener, led me to want to share this knowledge with more people other than just my clients in my professional capacity as a Chartered Financial Planner. And voila! The Retirement Lounge podcast is born.
